We Love Wyndham

About

We Love Wyndham is an independent community project for the people who live in the City of Wyndham. It is not the council, and it is not affiliated with any party or candidate.

The wall

This site does two jobs that pull in opposite directions, so we keep them visibly apart and publish different rules for each. A site that only celebrates cannot tell you a project slipped three years. A site that only criticises is exhausting and nobody reads it twice.

Celebrate

History · Places · Events · Articles

  • Warm, generous, and about people and places.
  • Features local people by name, with their permission.
  • Every photograph is credited. An uncredited photograph does not ship.
  • This section does not criticise.

Hold to account

Projects · Advocacy · Who represents you

  • Every claim carries a source and a date you can check.
  • Every figure says when it was published and by whom.
  • Anyone we are about to criticise is offered a right of reply before we publish.
  • This section does not boost.

Two dates on everything

You will see Verified and Changed on data pages, and they mean different things. “Changed” is when the content changed. “Verified” is when a person last opened the source and confirmed the facts still hold, even though nothing changed. A page verified yesterday and unchanged for eight months is trustworthy — and only showing both dates can tell you that.

Where something is more than a year old, or where a source link has died, we say so in red rather than leaving you to find out.

What we do not claim

  • We do not call Wyndham the fastest-growing area in Australia. In 2024 to 2025 that was the City of Melton. Wyndham is one of the fastest growing, which is true and still remarkable.
  • We do not publish a percentage of a suburb that supports something. Our sentiment data is self-selected, so we publish counts with the population alongside them, and we say plainly that it is indicative rather than statistically valid.
  • We do not publish councillors’ party affiliations. Victorian local government is formally non-party and no official register exists.
  • We do not reproduce local news. Star Weekly and the other local outlets are all rights reserved, so we summarise in our own words and link to them.
  • We do not use Aboriginal language, artwork or story without prior written permission from the relevant Registered Aboriginal Party.

Get help, or tell us we are wrong

If something on this site is wrong, we want to know, and we would rather hear it from you than from a reader who quietly stops trusting us. Local content dies on wrong details: a dead phone number or an officeholder who left six months ago does more damage than a missing page.

Corrections are made visibly. We change the fact, update the verification date, and say in the page what changed. We do not quietly edit and move on.

Facts most likely to be out of date are the ones that move fastest: state members of parliament (the current parliamentary term ends on 3 November 2026), the Mayor and Deputy Mayor (a new pair is elected on 11 November 2026), and party affiliations.

If we ever stop

Community sites get shut down and strand their users. We would rather commit in advance than be the next example. Our aggregate data is published openly for anyone to download and reuse, the content is ours to give away, and if this project ends we will say so publicly with notice rather than simply going dark.
