We Love Wyndham

Places

Wyndham covers 542 square kilometres between the Werribee River, Port Phillip Bay and the volcanic plains. These are the places worth the trip.

The shape of the place

  • The Werribee River runs about 110 kilometres from the Great Dividing Range to its mouth at Werribee South. It is also the boundary between the two Registered Aboriginal Parties: Bunurong Country to the east, Wadawurrung Country to the west.
  • Wyndham’s coast forms part of the Port Phillip Bay and Bellarine Peninsula Ramsar site, designated in 1982 and covering 22,651 hectares. It is Victoria’s most important site for migratory wading birds.
  • The Western Grassland Reserve is planned at 15,000 hectares, of which 12,800 lie in Wyndham — more than a fifth of the municipality.
