The ask

Nothing to do here. This one is worth reading because it worked.

What is going on

After the Victorian Government indefinitely shelved the publicly funded Western Interstate Freight Terminal at Truganina, Pacific National proposed its own intermodal freight terminal at Little River: roughly $5 billion across about 550 hectares.

The Little River community opposed it on air and noise pollution, impacts on threatened grassland species next to the Western Grassland Reserve, and risk to the internationally significant Ramsar wetlands downstream. A petition ran, residents protested, and conservation organisations joined in. Wyndham City Council refused the applications, including two vegetation removal applications in February 2024. Pacific National appealed to the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal, then abandoned the project and withdrew the appeal, citing changed timelines and economics.

We have deliberately not named a residents' group. Reporting refers to the Little River community and to residents, and we could not verify a formal organisation. Inventing one would be easy and wrong.
